New Installation - SLOW ACCPAC!!!

Just bought accpac v5.3 on a pervasive 9.1 server. Server is a PIV 3.0GHZ with 1GB DDR Ram, and RAID 5 Hard Drives.

Pervasive installed, sample company installed, persavive client on a machine and a full installation of accpac.

Accpac takes 11 seconds from the password prompt to get to a usable state in accpac (sample inc). For eg, it takes 8 seconds to load the Payment Batch list screen, and another 14 seconds to open a batch to look at it. This is horrendous performace.

Any ideas? I've tried a standalone installation with WGE, Local data, local install local everything on a PIV 3.0 with 120gb SATA drive and 1GB DDR Ram running windows server 2003. Again, SLOW AS HELL.

I'm really curious as to why this would run like crap on a sample database.

Mcafee enterprise v8.0. But I disabled it from scanning the folders which contain accpac applications or data.

Accpac R&D has been saying that Pervasive 9 runs much slower than 8.6, and they've been waiting for a service pack. It's here:

but I haven't tested it yet, all my clients are on 8.6 or lower.

I tried that little fix on 9.1. It didn't make a difference.

I've since downgraded my pervasive to 8.7 server/client and reinstalled on a new server. I've got much better performance now.
