Client bought a Merlin Legend via Ebay and I have a few questions as I am not familiar with this model. I have downloaded the manuals, and spent hours going over those and this forum.

System specs:
(1) 391C1
(1) 517L33A CKE4 R7 V12
(1) 007 MLM
(2) 408 GS/LS-ID MLX

Customer has 4 pots lines from Qwest. Do the 408 GS cards connect to the pots lines or do I have to bring in new PRI lines?

Also the 4th slot doesn't work with any cards. Could this be disabled in the system, or do i have a bad slot? I am able to use the slots after slot 4 just fine.

Thanks for any help.

What order did you put the cards?

your system should be:
processor
408
408
mlm007

the processor goes in the first small slot on the left, this is slot 00.

When you put the cards in, I would do a board renumber. If nothing works in slot 04, then yes, you have a bad slot.

Which manual do you have? Installation or feature reference?

The 408 cards are 4 lines (on top) and 8 extensions (bottom)

Personally, I would call in someone that knows whats going on.

System Order is:
Processor
mlm007
(blank bad interface)
408
408

I believe I read that the cards had be in continuous order to work, but the 408's work fine with an empty slot. I'll look into doing a board renumber once I get the winspm/355 setup.

I have all the manuals from the Avaya.com, installation and reference. I see that my POTS lines will work with the 408's.

Clients bought the system off Ebay, came with no manuals, or CD's for anything. They've had it sitting for a few months, just couldn't find anyone to install it. I've been laid off twice from different company's since September due to the economic issue, so I could use the work right now. I've installed many different switches over the years, so once i get into the interface I shouldn't have to many issues.

Thanks for the help, much appreciated.

your oo7 cannot be the first card after the processor you need to place the 408 first

Well, yes, the MLM-007 can be in the first slot, but none of us would do it that way.

I would say do it the way "telecomtekperson" said to do it.

I think what you are calling the 4th slot is really slot 3.

That is, we consider the processor as slot ZERO.

If you have an MLX-20, you can program the system from the first MLX Port.

Great, thanks for the help. I'll change the slot order, and get to troubleshooting the slot issue.

your right MM , should have said shouldn't use the 007 in the first slot

CVRBOB, in recent installations, due to the issues with 016-TRR Modules and certain DS1 Modules, I have been recommending/designing systems with the DS1 (T1) modules in Slot 1.

Seems weird, but it eliminates issues with PRI circuits.
