Installed VMware on an XP machine, copied the machine file over and ran, seems to login okay but hangs when trying to run an application.

Could the fact the machine fiel is NOT from the same model hardware be the issue, or is that independant?

the "feature" of VMWare is that the VM is isolated from the hardware, so you can move the VM across several hardware with no modification.

do you know if the VM has the same problem in the original box? I mean, the problem could be in the applications. Another step is to reinstall VMWare-tools in the guest OS.

Cheers.

Thanks for the response, I tried a re-install of the VM app and this seems to have solved the issue.
