I had a headphone to stereo(left/right) jack plugged into my headphone jack on my iMac(flatscreen700mhz)I'm wonderering how to go about getting into the computer and seeing if the other end of the headphonejack(part inside the computer) is opened so i can just push the broken piece out, with like a paperclip or such device. Any recommendations greatly appreciated. Thanks

YOu need to lay the imac on it's side. Use a pillow or something to support the monitor. Have the apple logo facing to the right side. Use a phillips screwdriver and remove the four screws at the bottom. This will take off the plate. Then you need a torx screwdriver to remove 4 more screws that will take off the bottom housing. Then pull the down so the bottom housing comes out part way. You can't pull it all the way out because of the cabling. YOu need to take off the power connector, drive connectors, ac connector andvideo connector. Then you'll have basically the bottom seperated which has the motherboard and should be able to remove the broken off piece. Put some thermal paste on the connection around the thermal pipe where they meet. (this gets hosed when you take the imac apart.) Put it all back together and you're good to go.
Best of luck,
PT
