Hi, I just updated my ie to ie 6.

Now I cannot access sites where I need to login (such as webmail, bank)

I am using win98, anyone got any ideas ?

Maybe a security issue ? In Tools > Options > Advanced > Security, Check for certificate and use SSL2 and SSL3.

All other sites work? Make sure all the IE 6 settings are at their default settings. If you had unusual IE 5 settings, then IE 6 will not work properly.

Hope this helps, please keep us informed.

I had pretty much standard settings, so I assume that it is a new setting in ie 6 I need to switch

I'll let you know later,

OK, I have use ssl2 and use ssl3 on, I just checked use tls 1.0, and still not dice. Any more ideas ?

contact support on the sites that it doesn't work. usually bank tech support is pretty decent.

I will try the banks, but in the UK most of them charge for the priveledge of answering what are basically easy questions.
What is annoying is that Opera works fine, it just seems to be the ie upgrade that has gone wrong. mebbe I ought to stick with opera all the time

Anytime my customers get font problems, instead of trying to mess with IE, I just install Opera for them.

But I need to develop a site that has to be seen in ie (and as 6 is the new standard, then I ought to make sure that it can be seen in that.

I have Kazaalite, but the Browser was installed afterwards, and I have done a repair on the browser, still no dice.

Thanks to all for your help. THe problem was in my combination of OS / firewall / Virus Checker preventing some of the security dll's from being updated.

The answer was to rename Schannel.dll, rsaenh.dll and rsabase.dll, reboot, uninstall ie6, tehn reinstall it.

After all that, it seems to work again.

Cheers,
K

thanks for letting us know what fixed the problem. That is an important aspect of these forums that often is overlooked.

thanks again,
Micky
