I have just replaced a workstations' HDD with a 40GB Western Digital (WD400). I imaged the old drive and released the image to the new drive, everything went fine. After the first boot I can log in as the workstation allows, but XP Pro prompts me for new hardware (WD400) and asks to restart. After restarting I cannot login under the username for that workstation, I can using the Admin or other users but not the one I need. I've tried reinstalling the image and installing the drivers for the HDD before I reboot a second time but I get the same thing.

Thanks for any help in advance!

since cant tell what type of network, answer difficult. Can you log user in from another workstation. If not, try removing user account from server and recreating it. Otherwise, back up user profile settings (favorites, etc), delete profile, and then recreate it.

I can log the user in from other workstations, I should say that I can log into the workstation using other user names but not the network. Could there by anything conflicting with the HDD and the network, sounds unlikely?

Thanks

I doubt it but look in dvc mgr to be sure. How is network configured? When you say "using other user names", are those user profiles created by server profile mgr? Or do they already exist locally? If by server, then my earlier response applies. Otherwise -- Since you were in sys, reseat nic and try pinging server. if good, then would try removing sys from domain (locally by putting it in workgroup, and at server by removing from domain controller). Then after sys reboot rejoin client sys to domain. I've had to also change SID on some systems but not always. If Novell network, there are other steps but to be honest don't remember right now. Been a while.
