Hi everybody

In case of performance problems we are setting up a new server for our WSS. The ActiveDirectory and the SQL Server will be the same.
Ok, I could take a image from the old WSS... but I don't like this way. And I've got a completely different hardware on the new one.

So I setting up a new Sharepoint on the new server. He is connected proper to the SQL server.
(WSS = STSV2_incl_SP1_DEU.exe Server = Win Server 2003 SP1)

BUT how can I copy the Sharepoints to the new Server???

thanks
Daniel

make backups of the databases... restore them on your new sql server, install Sharepoint on your new server then when confguring Sharepoint "point" it to the restored databases instead of making new ones, your site will appear including all the pages and content. (you have atleast 1 content DB and a Config DB)

Greetings

The SQL Server has not to be touched.
currently I've got the new Sharepoint connected with the SQL Server.

That all Sarepoints are running well on the new Server, the IIS Server must have the "Sharepoint-Websides", but i cant "copy/paste" those Sides!

Does anyone know a way to copy properly a Sharepoint Server? - not the Content(SQL).

you dont copy the application serverside... All settings and pages for those sides are also in the DB. So all you have to do on you new server is create an empty website in IIS. Then go to your Central Admin page (for the new server where you installed WSS) and extend the empty Website with SharePoint server extentions. You then get the option to create a new content DB or connect to an existing one.

This goes for the config database too, when you first install WSS to the new server choose install as webfarm or install with the remotesql parameter, you can then when you first open the Central admin pages, choose the config db then follow the above steps fir the sites.

Greetings
