Once I log-in my system thinks that new hardware has been installed and tries to install the driver for a PCI device. I continue through the install of the driver and when I restart it does the same thing. I have installed the driver severall times and also disabled the device, but it continues to do the same thing. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks

This *could* happen if your BIOS is setup to reset the PCI configuration. If so, the device may get new IRQ etc. and this could be what causes the problem.

Just a wild guesss, but check your BIOS setting for PCI.

You say you have disabled the device. Does that mean you disabled it in Device Manager?

I have three PCI cards (North Atlantic Industries 76CL1 and 76CS1 cards) in a Windows XP system at work that have non-plug & play Windows NT drivers. Disabling the card in Device Manager prevents Windows XP from auto-detecting them at every startup. But the application software that comes with them works just fine.

What card is Windows XP detecting as new hardware everytime you start up?
