Hi

Got a new CDRW for my machine today, running XP Pro, CDRW is setup as secondary master. When the found new hardware process had ended, windows advised me that the device installation was unsuccessfull, I can use the drive and even burn discs with it, my major problem is that every time Windows restarts the drive is detected again with the same error code, I have told Windows to ignore this but it keeps happenening.

Any ideas on how to stop the device being re-detected every time Windows starts.

TIA

Try gpedit.msc in RUN
computer config>>admin template>>system and check error
reporting
You can config settings

What does it say in Device Manager about this drive?
Is there any further information in the Event Viewer?

These skirt around the problem a bit, but it sounds like you might have taken them onboard.
