I just installed a 320GB hard drive, and did A NFTS partion for the whole thing. I have two hard drives both SATAI, well default to I second one is II. How can I partion the second one so it runs faster?

Also I have PC3200, 400mhz, DDR2 240pin two chips of 256 for a total of 512mb.

I have 4 slots 2 availabe. With the two slots what should I choose. My computer accepts: DDR2 PC2-4200,DDR2 PC2-5300,DDR2 PC2-6400

Note: The max I can get for now is 1GB. Should I go for two 512mb chips for 1GB or 1 chip of 1gb?

Thanks,
The Noob Chris.

Chris,

Welcome. You will get more replies by giving as much information as possible about your system including mainboard make & model, processor, etc.

How can I partion the second one so it runs faster?

Partitioning can be done within Disk Management:

or using a third-party utility like Partition Manager or Partition Magic.

As for the RAM, if your system uses dual-channel RAM two sticks are better than one. I would recommend trhe fastest modules the board will support. Knowing the motherboard make & model would be extremely helpful.

And, when you get the results you seek, it is always a good idea to thank the member who helped you by giving them a star to let them know their post was useful.

Best of luck!

Tony
