I have a friend who has just installed a new Hard drive (40GB) and it is only reading 8GB. The system is a 200mHZ processor, Windows ME and FAT32. It is a new Seagate hard drive. Can anyone help me sort out the problem.

Go to google. Search for IDE hard drive capacity barriers.
Possibly use LBA. Or use a drive addressing software like max blast. Ed Fair

Hello, crazydazy.

Tell your friend to visit Seagate download site and fetch the DiscWizard 2000 :

Perform the partition with the utility and the full capacity of the hard drive will be recognized.

(Some enthusiasts may suggest update the bios. You can dig into that direction if you like. I am not recommending.)
