Oh dear, I am unable to get my new hard drive to recognise the old scanneropticPro4800P I did think I had used my scanner since installing the drive. In fact I know I have , so why isnt it finding it now?
I have the disk but cant load it from there either.
I have a Belkin switch sharing one printer and the scanner.
I did run Ashampoo recently, do you think this could be the cause of it going missing. If so how do I get it back?

I run win ME on Celeron 111 433 proc.

Cheers people. I know at least one of you will have an answer for me.:)

It's probably the computer [and not the hard drive] that doesn't recognize the scanner and the one piece of information missing is "What is the Operating System?".

First thing to do is put the Belkin switch out of the way, don't use it [scanners hate them]. Then follow the scanner instructions to the letter for installing. There is no shortcut to installing scanners, have to be done 'by the book'. Then if that works, try plugging the printer into the back of the scanner and see if it works.

My scanner and printer only work if I use the Belkin switch, have done so for about 4 years and they were quite happy until I ran Ashampoo. So sorry but I wont use your advice this time. But thank you for replying anyway.

[Well its red faces all round]
Because I thought this problem was so irritating. I thought well i had checked evrything else, and already done this once but thought I would do it again check out the leads
And I found a small hole on the back of the scanner that should have had a lead in it.
I forgot that when I put in my new desk I had moved my equipment around. forgetting to plug the power lead back into the scanner and supply.!!!!!
Oh how silly do I feel. anyway thought I would post this so that people may think to carry out simple checks like are the leads tight or connected.
So now I am [2thumbsup] [bigsmile] [spin2]
