Have a report with date parameters ?StartDate and ?EndDate. It is grouped on the date, lisitng details for each date and a grand total at the end. Now i would like to put a new group in when the month part of the date changes and show monthly totals. How can i do this?

Thanks.

You should be able to choose byMonth in the Change Group box.

Create a formula to pull out the month:
month({your_field})
and group by that.

Right click the group and select change group->change the section will be printed for each month.

Now you have it grouped by month, you can now create summaries on any field by right clicking and select Insert Summary.

If you want groups for both daily and monthly, just add another group outside the daily group that's set to for each month.

Thanks...Sometimes you just think TOO HARD about it and miss the obvious!!

Just add a new group on the same date field, but set "this section will be printed:" to "for each month". You now have two date groups, one based on day, and one on month. Then when you insert summaries, select insert summary fields for all groups and insert grand total field. If there are conditional criteria to your calculations, you might need to use running totals instead.
