Hi ALL,

I have a problem with Crystal Reports 10 (V. 10.0.5.820)

Issue: I created a formula using values returned from two running total fields, but this formula field does NOT appear in the Chart Expert list of available “Report Fields” as found under the Data tab.

Background: The two running total fields are used to: 1) count # of locations, and 2) count the # of locations used.

The formula is designed to calculate the percentage of locations used out of the total number of locations. The bar chart is to be based on this calculated percentage.

Any ideas why this new formula field isn't appearing in the list of available fields in the Chart Expert? I've even tried rebooting, and nothing I do seems to help.

TIA, Randy

Randy,

The answer is located in your Help Files - under multi pass reporting flow chart.

This chart shows the order of processing of a Crystal Report - and that running totals are calculated during the same pass as charts - therefore - the running totals formula you wrote is a print time formula and is not ready with values to chart from at the time the chart is created.

I hope this helps you.

Randy,
it may be worth investigating pushing the counts to a sub report and then passing the output back to the main report. Just a thought.

Hi,
Thank you both for taking the time to respond. I will research these ideas and come up with a solution. A star to both for helping.
TIA, Randy

Upon reflection,
I want to insert this chart in a group footer after the data has been printed. From my statement above, you can see that the running totals have already been printed in that particular group footer.

All I want to do is to calculate a percentage, and use that as the basis for my horizontal bar chart.

Any thoughts?
TIA, Randy

There is a paper on the Business Objects website called "Charting on Print-time Formulas". Go to the knowledge base and use this phrase as the search item.
