As the title says I have created a new formula but it does not appear in the Available Fields of the cross-tab so that I can use it.
I am using crystal reports 8.

I figured out how to solve it by pure lack.
The formula must be in the detail section and if it is suppressed you must de-suppress it once!

Formulas are normally unavailable because they use more than one detail line, include summaries or Next. Could that be the cause?

As lbass says, suppression on the report should make no different. Formula fields need not even be on the report-page to be usable.
