new font in Excel but not in Word

Installed a new font into a machine running XP pro and XP office. Some of the fonts are in word but the one I need is only in excel. When I go to the font folder in the control panel, the font I want has a red letter A on it. The other fonts have a blue and green O.

any ideas??
