My default SMTP certificate expired so I'm getting the 12014/12015 events. After checking into things it appears I simply need to run the new-exchangecertificate command to create a new self-signed certificate which defaults for SMTP, then the Enable-ExchangeCertificate command to enable it, then when it's working, remove the old expired one.

My question is will Exchange need to be restarted after this is done or can I safely run this during production hours?

I'm Certifiable, not cert-ified.
It just means my answers are from experience, not a book.

There are no more PDC's! There are DC's with FSMO roles!

Thanks Zelandakh...didn't want to be surprised.
