New Exchange setup Help

We are currently migrating from Imail to MS Exchange 2003. I have installed exchange 2003 on one of my servers. I need outlook to connect to it securely via RPC over HTTP. I read that I would need a Front End and Back End server. Do I need to install another copy of Exchange on another server? Can Exchange acts both as a FE/BE on one server?

and look at Scenario 3. i haven't done this myself but looks like you can use just one server to do this.
