New emails coming in turn to "Read"

I have a blackberry which uses POP to read my work emails; lately the emails coming to my desktop into outlook turn from "unread" to "read" even without me clicking on them ... Can anyone please help ?

I think this is caused by POP opening emails as and when it send it to my handheld.
