Okay, first off, thank you for your time and thoughts on this one. As I am trying to help my Maw out here, any help is appreciated more than normal (you've got to help out your Ma!).
She had an internal Intel DSL modem. Now, she has a NIC coupled with an external Cisco 678 flashed to CAP. Everything was great for the first day. For the first time, the DSL worked at the appropriate speeds.
Without changing anything (I know, I know--something HAD to change but I swear that she knows her computer inside and out so it was not likely to be something obvious), the next day the thing is slow as all get out. It will burst with speed and then drop (for sometimes up to 10 minutes) to 56k connection speeds. Also, IE6 sp1 continually gets the "send error report" message. (feel free to point out other threads in this area). I would like to reiterate that this had worked fine for quite a while.
She is currently going to try a repair and if needed, a re-install of IE6 sp1--I will post the results of that when she is done (might be a while yet, as she has some work to finish for the day).
DSLreports says that her connection itself is fine, so something must be goofy on her machine. Any ideas that I can relay to her? We are especially interested in anything that might be odd (or known issues) with the new Cisco.
Windows 98 SE
Also running-
Zone Alarm
McAfee Anti-virus Mudskipper
