hi all,
Have a new HP server.
In Disk Management, the Volume that will contain only user databases (MS SQL Server).... it shows the Layout as 'Simple' and the Type as 'Dynamic'.
The HP Array tool shows this drive is configured for RAID 5.
The OS volume has Layout 'Partition' and Type of 'Basic'.
My question is: The existing server (the one this new server will replace) has BOTH volumes as Layout 'Partition' and Type 'Basic'.
Are there any performance issues with having the databases on a Dynamic+Simple volume versus a Basic+Partition volume?
Nothing is on this new volume yet - would I gain anything by
making it a Partition and Basic ?
Thanks, John
