New data goes into backup table? Please, how come?

When closing a form I copy a table to a backup table, different name.

But whenever data in the ORIGINAL table is modified, the same modification appears in the the back up table. When looking at relationships, there is no relationship...no one to one, or one to many or many to many.

The fields in the backup table have the same names as in the original table, because structure and data are copied. Again, only the name of the table has been changed.

Many thanks to anyone who can explain this to me and give me a solution to creating an (independent) back up table.

Hi Gus!

When you say that data in the original table is modified, is that through form? If it is, could you post the code from the form, or e-mail me a copy of the db? If you can I will check it over and see what I can come up with.

Jeff:

Thank you so much for your attention to my post.

You know how I solved my problem? Instead of "copying" the table, I used a delete query followed by an append query, and I got a table that is independent of the data put into the original table.

In answer to your question: No, even if I changed data to the original table in datasheet view (not through a form) it also changed the same field in the same record in the "copied" table. I dunno...but now I'm fixed...

Thanks so very much anyway...

Hi!

That does sound odd, but I'm glad you solved it!
