I just built a 1.2 Gighrtz Athlon Thunderbird system with a 266mhz bus, ECS MOBO with built in sound, EVGA GeForce2 Card, 256mb pc133 centron ECC ram, Diamond Supramax Modem, 30bg Western Digital ATA 100 hard drive, ASUS 50x cd-rom. This proc has a Cooler Master fan on it and as long as I was watching it I never saw it get above 110 degress which is perfectly acceptable for an athlon. Now, the problem is when I leave the computer on screen saver it will freeze and if I'm on the internet it will freeze or disconnect. CTRL+ATL+DEL does nothing in these cases. Any ideas?? Ladin

I would suggest instead of PC133 RAM that you get DDR RAM. The 1.2G (266mhz bus) Was desighned with DDR RAM in mind. This might kill some of the issues you are having one the RAM by replacing the 133 with DDR.. James Collins

no its not normal but what chip set and who made the ram and what driver for the video there was a lot of porblem with the old driver for the gforce and althons So long and thanks for all the fish.

2 words DDR RAM! i know I am getting redundant here, but your problem is the RAM. I am pretty sure of it. If I am rong I am sorry. But Your RAM is too slow. The PC266 Front Side Bus works BEST With DDR PC1600 or DDR PC2100. James Collins

Here is a suggestion, Since monitors no longer are burdened with the problem of burn-in. I would suggest trying disabling the screensaver, unless your a screensaver lover. Also, you might try turning the power off of the monitor while it is not in use. It is ok to turn it off while the PC is still on. This will also give you longer life out of your monitor. Since monitors are similar to light bulbs in the fact that they have so many hours of life, you can greatly reduce wear on it by turning it off while on or off the internet. One more thing, if your HD is in sleep mode it might cause it to lock up when trying to re initialie it. Not sure if any of this will help, but is a couple things you might think about.
