A new client was referred to me that has a BCM. It was installed by Embarq our local phone company.

I have not yet worked on the BCM only MICS. I have not heard a lot of good things about BCM. THis is a small doctors office with both pots and a PRI.

Will there be any password or software barriers I will have to cross in the BCM enviroment that I should be aware of?

I am so use to walking up to any MICS set and programming. I do not carry around a laptop and I understand that the BCM requires that interface.

Thank you!

BCM as a Platform is pretty good. Not perfect but what is. Laptop or computer on same network. Password needed yes.
try default UN and PW or backdoor. Read up on software version docs to familiarize yourself with the differences in software & hardware. You will probably be better off seeing your glass half full not half empty. Just a thought.

If it is a BCM 400 4.0 or BCM 50 you can go in thru phone and you will see the Norstar programming. But the access is similar with an add ID code.

We upgraded from a MICS to a BCM400 and find the BCM400 Element Manager easy to use.
If they have the BCM400 plugged in to the network, all you need is the ip address of the BCM400. connect ot the ip address using internet Explorer, download the Element Manager to the PC and you will figure it out.

Will the BCM be able to handle up to 230 analog station ports?

The MICS is so available and so cheap on the secondary market that I can proivide BIG PBX features at a low cost. I am concerned that a newer platfrom will increase my cost to the customer when they will be using basically the same features and functions as MICS.
