I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to which IOS versions would best accomodate the new CCNA Security, Voice and Wireless certs.

Also would greatly appreciate any info on equipment?

CCNA VOICE..
------------
1760 Router
2650XM/2651XM
3550 (PoE)
Link to CCIE Voice equipment:
Any info on obtaining CallManager and other voice apps for study.. Student Discounts etc.

Found a link where someone posted this question in another forum...

Also, Dave Shulz "Getting started with building your Cisco Voice Lab".. This is for the CCVP but hey, beggars can't be choosers, right? LoL

CCNA WIRELESS..
---------------
This is a link for CCNA Wireless Router Lab by Cisco but this seems to be more geared toward the limited amount of wireless on the R&S CCNA not the new Wireless...

This is not exactly what we are looking for but it is a great resource where networking is concerned!

I honestly have no idea as to what equipment to go with for the CCNA Wireless cert.. I have an AP350 but that is it as far as Cisco goes.. I am attacking this cert as soon as I finish with the CCNA Security.. Then probably the Voice... My goal is to become more well rounded all around before specializing anywhere.. Will go after CCNP after that!

So does anyone have any ideas on the best equipment options/IOS for the Wireless?

CCNA SECURITY..
---------------
Link to CCIE Security Blueprint:
Looks like most can be done on regular equipmet with the exception of PIX.. So PIX options are:
Pix 501
Pix 506e
Pix 515e
Pix 525
Pix 535
However I see that Cisco is doing an end of life on the Firewall Specialist Certification and introducing an ASA cert in it's stead... Also check out this article on PIX vs. ASA comparison..

I am using the CCIE tracks for lack of CCNA specialization posts yet and feel that a top down approach may be best but can not REALLY find any necessity for either PIX or ASA by looking at CCNA Security requirements..
I do however see more info in regard to the end of the PIX series...

So would anyone have any recommendations? I see that you can buy a Cisco ASA 5505 10-User bundle for under $400 on eBay.. Perhaps this is the best option in this regard as opposed to spending $200 (ciskokits.com) for the Pix 501 which seems to be disappearing! Would really like input on this in particular as this is my next exam and I want a security appliance... (Other than my Juniper NS-5GT Wireless ((Which is awesome by the way!!!)))

This has to be the most expensive book I have ever seen...
(That is only a year old that is)...

k.. Let me stop before I hijak my own thread!! LOL

Back to the security part of the thread... I found this link..
Guy asked the same question I did...

This guy knows what he is talking about so this may prove useful to you guys...
I am curious if I buy an ASA-5505 will I later be able to install an IOS that supports IPS?

NOTE: 3640 shows IOS 12.4(19b) then 12.4(21) support but did not see any T support for the 3640... As far as the XM series routers I checked them all and although they do support 12.4T IOS they don't appear to support 12.4(20)T.. See for yourself on the Cisco Feature Navigator
1800's do of course...

I am going to post this link again:
I will let you guys know that you can get 12.4(20T) on an 800 series router but ONLY on the 871 NOT the 851... There is a wireless version of the 871.. (871W)..

Any yhoughts/info would be appreciated!!!

Looks like I will be spending $400 on an ASA-5505.. Not sure about spending that much on the 871 SOHO router though... Also $400+...

It appears that this will support my studies up through the CCSP.. If anyone knows any differently then please let me know.. Looking at any and all suggestions now.. Thanks guys.. About to turn in.. Talk to you all later!

No joke.. LoL
There were a few unanswered questions though...

1. Any info on obtaining CallManager and other voice apps for study.. Student Discounts etc.

2. I honestly have no idea as to what equipment to go with for the CCNA Wireless cert. Any recommendations for wireless lab equipment?

3. Will the ASA-5505 support my studies up through the CCSP?

In regard to the Security...
EoL/EoS Announcement - Cisco ASA CSC-SSM Software Version 6.0

"Cisco announces the end-of-sale and end-of-life dates for the Cisco ASA Content Security and Control (CSC) Security Services Module Software Version 6.0. The last day to order the affected product is February 16, 2009."

This CSC 6.0 is referenced in one of the above links!

Well, I have 6.3 on a PIX 520---those are kinda old. I thing an ASA 5505 would do for CCSP---I think you need to practice on ASDM, and things that 6.x won't support, like nonat...
For wireless, I imagine you just need a WAP or an 871W, something that does SSID BVI and all that crap. I think you'd have to know how to bridge two WAPs together, so maybe get 2?

Cool Thanks
