Hi All,

Replaced a BRI combi card in an IPO 500V2 today as one of the ISDN ports on the original card had failed.
The new card is in but when I switched the IPO back on the status lights flash red and orange and never change.
Having done a bit of reading it would appear that this means the card is "initialising" but its been like that for over an hour.
The unit has not booted and I cannot access it via manager, is the card duff or should I be looking at something else? Will be going back later this evening to put the old card back in.

Thanks
Andy

Try moving the new card to a different slot.

Could also be that the system does mot hold the firmware needed for the card to initialize. Maybe try to recreate SD card if moving does no good.
(Make sure you have a copy of config.cfg to put back on the SD card in case you destroy it).

Kind regards

Gunnar

Even if not supported, IPO should still boot. (At least mine did so.)

Kind regards

Shouldn't it also be possible to upload the card's firmware through upgrade wizard?

That rules out upgrade process as well [smile]

Try to put the line card on the original card and put that in again :)

Hi All,

Surely if the part number is the same as the card I pulled it should boot?
If the card has newer firmware should it not downgrade to the same level as the system firmware?
The FW release is version 6.0(8).
I guess the card could be duff!
All the docs I can find says that flashing red is initialising, and its still going now.
Guess I shall have to put the old card back in for now.

Ok put the card in our system running 9.0.300.941 and the system and card boot fine.
So, how do I make this card work in the customers 6.0(8) system?

You can't, the card itself isn't recognised and that stuff is hardcoded in the system firmware. Are you sure it's a BRI combo and not an ATM combo? ATM v2's aren't recognised but I've yet to see a BRI combo not work on older firmware. You can just put the trunk card onto the old card as you said it's only the ISDN port that was faulty :)

Hi amriddle, I shall give that a go, it might have been the control unit having a funny 5 minutes to be honest.
I shall try the card again and then try swapping the trunk card if I get no joy that way.
