I have just built this pc wiith all new parts, i installed XP Pro and the put the latest service pack in as well. The OS keeps crashing altogether and giving me the blue screen of death(i turned off the error reporting and instant restart. It is usually a different driver that caused the problem each time and each time it reports what memory address is having the problem. I have installed twice now with the same results.
I am begining to think that the ram is faulty but it is so random that i can't be sure. I do not have a spare dimm to check although i will have to go and get some tommorrow.
it also has the same problem in safe mode. I have changed a few settings in the BIOS but that has not helped, has any body else had similar probs.
Any help would be great.
Thanks

Steve

could certainly be RAM - or any other hardware component (try eliminating as many as you can by disconnecting them - all cards (or disable in bios if onboard), CD/DVD/Zip drives). Cpu fan ok (check temperature in bios settings if available)?

The last time I ran into a similar situation with an athon chip with 512 ddr ram it turned out to be the sound card. Not that the sound card was bad but it was loading the driver before other drivers and kept giving me random errors.
Best advice I can give is remove everything except the most basic drivers, down to the bare of bare. Install and then start the entire process of adding one at a time the boards and drivers you want.
good luck
