after downloading a 130 meg self-extracting executable & trying to upgrade -- the setup process shows the existing serial numbers -- how convenient!! Only when I try to enter the one for the main product; it says "serial number already in use".
Official Veritas Tech Support emailed me a
"try this and if all else fails, here's a MANUAL UNINSTALL text file instruction list
(that has about fifty or sixty registry keys to delete)
That ain't worth it.
So has anybody done this upgrade?
Anybody else seen this?
(The hints at "deleting the existing serial numbers" during setup * all this -- frankly; the hassles that this 3572 build is "hopefully going to eliminate"
(that I have in the 3571 build)
are irritating (jobs showing as "Failure" because there are "corrupt Return Receipts" in somebody's Mailbox --
this hassle/inconvenience/embarassment of having a big red "FAILED" on a backup that is really O.K. except for a few corrupted mailbox items that don't matter anyway --
this hassle is not worth
"risking" -- "trying" something for a new build that in no way should have a setup that shows your valid serial number but then REJECTS IT when you type it in the boxes that the setup screen provides.
I'd rather live with the "Failures which are NOT Failures" until there is a setup routine for this build that WORKS.
