I'm new to brio. My boss let our old SQL database admin/brio admin go.. and I'm beginning to pick up the pieces.

Currently I'm trying to understand how brio works, and what we(as a company use it for) so I'm looking through some existing bqy files that our OPS team reports from, and I have a few questions.

In the query files, there are topics, and then under that, it looks like tables. Are the topics roles or groups that the admin created and then put the relevant tables under that role for ease of use? (i.e. is the topic billingdetail, created in SQL, or is it a brio label?)

I have 6 topics in the workspace, all linked together. Some of them are linked with a line that has a += between the lines, and others are linked with +=+ what is the difference between these?

What exactly are data models? The documentation I have here doesn't really give me a clear understanding as to what they are. Are data models bqy report files? or are data models something else? I used to think that they were OCE's but it seems like oce's are nothing more than a pointer file that tells brio what database on what server to use.. and to provide authentication.

And lastly... we're going to look at Crystal Reports XI as an alternative to Brio.. I know this is a Brio forum, but has anyone had experience with CRXI? or know what kind of headaches I would be looking at trying to move our reporting system from Brio to Crystal reports?

Thanks much in advance for any and all advice..
