Hi guys,

I am very new to informix. I have 2 package:
-IDS 7.31.TD5 and informix connect (on the same CD) for windows NT 4.0
-SDK 2.6 , JDBC
I have a web test server that I plan to work on coldfusion MX.
I cann't find any information on how and where to install. Can I install IDS on the web test server and SDK on the working computer? Or can I install all of them in the same machine web test server? Could you tell me what steps you do to make it work.

Thanks

Sunnet

Hi,
First you should install IDS and second the CSDK on Server.
After installing you need to configure the onconfig and sqlhosts on the server and initialize the database.
For a test Database you can use the script dbaccessdemo7 right after initializing the DB

Next you need to install the SDK also on Clients, because you need the newest ODBC on client side.
If you'veinstalled the CSDK on Client side you need to configure an ODBC connection in your PC. Pls use setnet32. Here you've the possibility to test the connection. If anthing is right you can work via this ODBC to the Database on Server.
You can connect also on serverside directly with dbaccess to your Database

hope that helps
ciao

Thanks appi for the quick response. Is CSDK = Informix Connect?

Sunnet

Hi Sunnet,
nope, CSDK is Client SDK Toolset or SDK for Servers.
YOU should always install server first and tools (SDK,
E-SQL, .....) second. This is what Informix mentioned for installations.
regards
Uwe
