this will be like a log of my experience with this refurbished bcm 400 my company purchased for me.

I got it out of the box and had to shake 10-15 screws and parts and two spare media services cards out of the body.
whatever

so I took the old hard drive out of the failed bcm and placed it into the new bcm just for fun. I can null modem in and see bcm quick configuration and all the old ip info and stuff, but the lan cards show no lights and no packets sent out.

Im going to try to boot it up with the hard drive that came with it now.

even with the hard drives it came with, there are no lan lights, no packets being sent, but I can do quick configuration and change ip settings...

help

well, false alarm... kinda.

I can ping and log in to the bcm with a different computer, which is crazy because I can browse the internet, but the bcm just doesnt want to talk to that laptop... ?

anyways, I have the old hard drive back in and im going to try to log in to it.

I can browse to the bcm with the old ip address, but I dont have bcm element manger on this computer. im really confused why this thing doesnt want to talk to my other computer. I went to look at call pilot and it wanted me initialize callpilot, so0 I assume all the call pilot info is stored on the two little cards in the bft?

im going to put the old hard drive and the old cards and modules in the new bcm and see what happens...

crossover cable.

what a moron. at least I figured it out myself and I only look like a retard anonymously over the internet.

I guess this other laptop is auto sensing? thats pretty cool.

well, wish me luck at my big customer.

customer doesnt want to take the system down till tomorrow afternoon
