I have a microsoft wireless keyboard & mouse. For some time now the mouse has been acting strangley. I changed the batteries, but it still froze on occasion, or went tracking across the screen in a wanton manner even if I wasn't touching it.

Now, generally when it freezes, I change its batteries and all is well. But not this time. I was thinking - time for a new keyboard & mouse (they work through the same interface) when it suddenly dawned on me that I had never changed the keyboard batteries in 3 years. Well, why should I? The keyboard was working just dandy. So, more to see what happened than anything I changed the keyboard batteries for new ones. Hey presto - problem solved, mouse is behaving itself again!

Doh!

Ya, mouse goes long before keyboard but keyboard usually has more batteries in it as well, thats part of the reason.

Guess it also depends on if you use the mouse more than the keyboard as well.
