I used to have no problem, but now when I start C++ Builder v4.0, or when I start a new application, I have no components on the palette, and when I try to compile a trivial app I get loads of errors eg
Unable to open include file 'vcl.h' etc etc.
If I load in an existing app and use that as a template, all is fine, but it's really tedious.
I guess I have a corrupted file somewhere, but I have reinstalled C++ Builder with no change.
Has anyone had this and know the fix ?

The default makefile is (BCB)\bin\default.bpr.
This is usually edited by the IDE, so getting your project options right, particularly ticking all the design packages AND ticking default, should sort out the problem.

One further problem I have had with the default.bpr is the "ALLOBJ = " line, where if you are still having problems, replace c0x32.obj with c0w32.obj.

did you try to uninstall and then reinstall or did you reinstall over the existing installation. in project options check to see what packadges are installed.
