Hi,

We have been contacted by a franchise that is using an access application with has a real time link with Peachtree 2003. Sage software is only going to continue support of this until Sept 30th, after that their ability to process credit cards is gone. Naturally, they do not know where the source code is and want us to look at rebuilding the system from scratch.

Creating the table structure and process information is fairly straightforward for us. However we do not have any experience linking into Peachtree 2006. Has anyone done this? It will also need to link into Microsoft MapPoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook. I have linked with Word & Excel, however I have not created a formatted spreadsheet with Excel via VB. Any ideas along these lines would be appreciated.

You've addressed Access, Excel, Outlook, Word and VB.

Is Paradox actually an element of your requirements?

In other words, are you using VB to do all this?

Or replacing Access/VB with Paradox?

Right now we are accessing the situation. If the client cannot find the source code, we will have to rebuild the app from scratch. We have done all of our application development in Paradox, so if we take on the project it will be done in pdox. Before we can decide whether to do this we want to know if it has been done before and with what results.

The primary two apps that it interfaces with are Peachtree and MapPoint. Do you have any experience interfacing pdox with these two apps?

Thanks again

James D. Howard

PS: Do you see any hope in the future for pdox, or is it just dead wood, waiting to be discarded by the venture capital people?
