am a diehard pc'er I just started a new job [graphic designer] and have 2 computers at work, all the graphic programs are on the mac [which I learned on in college, most graphic classes are on a mac] but once otta college revert right back to my pc and never learned much about the mac os and hardware.
Now my question is how in the heck do you install software and different little programs on the mac? The current op sys. is 9.1, no matter what I try to install, I get the same error that it doesn't recognize it and that it cannot locate the program that made the file. And yes I am using software made for the mac.
what is the deal??????
I am very frustrated!!
How do I get software on this cotton pickin thing?

I do have a copy of that and when I drop them in the expander it says that it is not compressed.

Are the programs for OSX or OS9? I've had that error when trying to install OSX applications on an OS9 machine.

rhondabrabbin,

sounds like drlex is is correct, you cant use OSX programs on system 9. you'll need to install OSX as well. the beauty of this is you can install OSX onto 9 and you will be able to run programs for both OS9 and OSX on the same machine, because OS9 runs a bit like an emulator.

True, but I have found classic not to be identical in operation to OS9.2. If you have this problem, plus the time and HDD space, a separate OS9 partition is a good thing to have.

DrLex,
Thats true, an emulator is never as good as the real thing, and in some cases i have to start my machine from the OS9 system because classic just isnt enough.

if the application you are trying to launch ends with .app you can safely say its OSX native.
