I am a new Access user and have created a simple table and a simple form. I then went into "Tools", "Security" and "Set Database Password". I closed out of Access, went back in, opened the database, was prompted for password and got in, no problem.
Next, I used the Security Wizard using the prompts in the book, "MS Access 2003 QuickSteps" and created a username and password. Now I can't get into Access at all and I want to cry. Please help.

The Security wizard prompts for a lot of settings and I've never had much luck with it.

You're not dead in the water, though. The wizard creates an unsecured copy of the database which you can still get to, with a little effort.

If your original database name was db1.mdb, the wizard creates a copy called db1.bak. Rename the bak file (you can't have the same file name in the same directory), and change the bak extension to mdb. For example above, change db1.bak to db1a.mdb. Then open it as usual (double click, or use Access File >> Open).

Thanks for the star!

The way I see it, if the wizard was so good, it wouldn't HAVE to create a backup! LOL

C21cwag there is a FAQ in this site on how to use database security, and there is a fact on the microsoft access site. Its not quite complicated but the way you did it was wrong.... You need to do a few step by step before opening it secured, and once that is done you can just play with the security, plus if you get locked out of a database, you only need to go to Tools > security > group administration and reach the SYSTEM1.mdw file in your default folder that you should find next to the new one you just created.
