New 400 phone 8ndoes not work on 406

Never worked on a 406 before. So I installed a brand new 400 phone 8 module to a 406. None of the ports work. If I plug my butt set in I get a weird dial tone. If I dial anything the port goes silent. A restart is all that brings it back.

Why is it that i am not surprised?
Try ebay dor a used IP400 Phone module or bring in a IP500.

No can do. Customer refused an upgrade. he phone 8 was sealed new in an Avaya box. Did they have a record of failure or defects?

Did you upgrade the firmware to match the 406?

Tommy - no. I have 6.2.23 on my laptop as it was the only rev I could get from my ABP. The client has an earlier release.

the Phone 8 will need to be upgraded/downgraded to match the system.

Do you have the correct firmware? What release is the IPO406 on?

So it is working. They are running 4.0.5 and I had 4.2.23. I tried upgrading the module only because it was worth a shot. And that fixed it. Didin't think it would. Getting any release prior to 4.2 has proven impossible.
