I am installing a new 2008 server on an existing 2003 server domain tomorrow. The 2008 server is to be set up as an active directory server on the existing 2003 domain. This is my first experience with 2008. For you guys that have already been through this, what do I need to look out for? I believe the only role for this server will be AD.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Shannan

You will need to update your AD schema before adding a w2k8 DC;

Info on how to do this is in this thread;

If there are no stupid questions, then what kind of questions do stupid people ask? Do they get smart just in time to ask questions?

Make sure you have a good backup of your active directory just in case things go south.

FYI I just did this as well and all went smoothly.

Well it ended up being a 2K3 server instead of a 2008 server. I was looking forward to my first 2008 server install. Oh well, there is always next week. Thanks for the information guys.
