Hi All.

I have a customer that is adding new 1220 phones to their bcm. When they connect them, they get a "failed firmware upgrade" message.

As these are new types of phones, I am wondering where in the bcm I can find out if there is the 12xxupdate.cfg file.... or see where the firmware upgrades are.

Any help is appreciated. I have googled the error and don't seem to find anything helpful.

Regards

12xx phones will not work on an older BCM200/BCM400 system at all. Only the 200x series or 11xx IP phones will work on those.

If it's a BCM450 or BCM50 you might need a newer system update if you have BCM450 Release 1 or BCM50 release 3 with an early system update that didn't support the 1200 series yet. Release5 and R6 should be compatible on the BCM450 and BCM50.

If the phone is running the SIP firmware you might have to force a firmware update back to UNIStim. It involves setting up TFTP servers, configuring a config file with instructions to force the update, etc. It's a bit of a pain due to lack of official documentation on going back to UNIStim.

So what firmware is loaded on the phone?
What BCM system, Release and System update versions are you running?
