I have been trying to help a neighbor who has a problem logging on to NetZero. He is running Windows 98 and the first time he tries to log on it gets to the point where the screen says "You are logged on". Then it freezes and he has to reboot. The second try is invariable successful. He has tried changing the dial up number but that has not worked.

Shut down all programs running in the background, except Explorer and Systray, by pressing Ctrl-Alt-Del on the Desktop, click on a program in the 'Close Program' window, click 'End Task', and repeat.

If no luck, then uninstall and reinstall the NetZero software.
And also use the above program shutdown procedure before reinstalling it.

get rid of Netzero/Juno (it's adware) and go with something that doesn't require software to be installed and use Mozilla suite and or it's components (firefox and thunderbird) as email client. Try something like intergate and others for 10 bucks a month and no software needs installing.

To TekTippy4U:
I've been using NetZero at home and work for quite a while now, without it being marked as spy/ad/hijack -ware. What type of "warz" prog are you using? I'm using LavaSoft's Ad-Aware.

To walt436:
At work there was a Win2k machine that didn't work with Netzero at first. I simply took it as a bad install (maybe a program in background as ski suggests?) I don't know. But after reinstalling and changing some setting in other DUNs, it worked.

Good luck,

Do you like the VBS and Ads that are d/l with every email?
To me - that's Ad-warez, and you're paying for it to boot.

The INI file is munged - I know all about it unfortunately..PLUS there's a silly MS article somewhere relating to Juno probs....type it - in a search at ms site, but just uninstall the C&^%$# and be done with it!
