Hi,

I want to start a career working with 'Networks' and/or 'Data Communications' as they were my favorite/best subjects in college.

I have just graduated with a Bsc. in Computing Science and am wondering what are the best next steps to take for a career in this field. I have no experience whatsoever.

I am aslo trying to improve my skills as a programmer, in between working jobs etc, so what would you recommend to concentrate on, im thinking Java or VB.NET? Also a database that works in conjunction with these languages.

thanks,

thePunisher.

UNIX/Linux or Win32 ?

Whatever, most sys admins (ie network specialists) I know have no need for Java or VB.NET. They are skilled in C/C++/shell scripting/batch scripting/TCL, mail servers, DNS, NAT, routers, and other configurable apps.

Neither would a sys admin want to know how to write SQL.

Knowing SQL, Java, VB, C# etc is generally a developers domain, rather than a sys admin ...

Win32,

Configurable apps eh! yeah i'll check them out. Try and read some books on the qt.

Thanks,
