Hi,

I am developing a little program using buidler and I want to share a file over a network, ie create a file with a program running on one machine on another computer on the network.. It is for a pier to pier network using IPX/SPX Protocol.

I have tried using the path ("ComputerName\\root") in the same way you would map a network drive in explorer however this doesnt work.

Any help would be appricaited.

Regards,

Paul Jackson.....

What's the problem????

I take it that it's possible to save files on the other PC through the network if your'e allowed access but i do not believe that it's possible to launch the program on the remote PC unless You has something like PCAnyWhere active and through that program activates it on the remote PC.

By saving a .exe file on your harddrive You do not execute it, merely saves it. To activate You has to activate it, i.e. tell the OS that it should load and run a certain file.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply, Im not actually looking to execute a program remotely, what I am looking to do is write a program which can be ran on a number of machines however syncronises via one file based on a 'host' computer (much like a mini database).

I have overcome the problem by mapping a network drive on each client PC to the host computer then allowing the program to locate the file on the host computer. Simple but effective.

Thanks again,
