Networking Windows XP Pro Problem

Can anybody please help, I have two PC’s running Windows XP (one with the internet) connected by network cards, a hub and the correct network cables, I also have the internet shared out and working correctly, however if I try to open the computer’s via the workgroup I receive the following message:

\\computername is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The network path was not found.

On the host PC with the internet connection, I can see the other PC on my network and the host, however I receive the above message when I click on the PC icon for the other PC.

On the other PC with the internet connection, I can’t see any other PC on my network, I get as far as the Mshome icon, then I receive the above message again.

What I want to do is to share documents and printers..etc

The hub and cables..etc must be working as I can share the internet without any problems, the PC’s are part of a workgroup and not a domain…

I would appreciate any advice on the above.

Checklist:

1. Client for Microsoft Networks, and File and Printer Sharing installed on both machines;

2. Netbios over TCP/IP enabled under TCP/IP Properties, Advanced, WINS tab; both machines;

3. Logon to the network at startup. You must either have a password and enter it, or if no password hit Enter or Okay. Hitting Escape or Cancel will prevent network service from starting;

4. You must share something, anything, on both machines;

5. Workgroup name is identical on both machines; machine name is different.

6. Create a new user, with the username and password of the other machine, on both machines.
