I am very new to linux and am having a problem getting my systems to talk.
I am trying to get my linux 7.1 box to access the internet and do a backup from my main computer.
I am running Win98se on my main computer with DSL access.
I have heard about using Samba, but hav no idea how to get it running.
The how-to's say to use linuxconf to set up the networking, but when i try to run it on a terminal it says command not found.

Can anyone help, or suggest anything?

You need to be the root user to run linuxconf - are you logged in as root?? Mise Le Meas,

From memory, I thing RH7.1 does not install linuxconf as part of the default workstation installation. You might have to int\stall the linuxconf package from the RH7.1 CDs...

I agree with TheRat as by default, 7.1 unfortunately won't install linuxconf as default, instead find in CD1 and install the RPM. After, go to linuxconf either from terminal or the GUI environment and go to networking tree and fill in the appropriate info in the fields presented to you there (IPs, host, adaptors, etc.) Then restart or start smb from /etc/init.d/ and the way you go! Hope that helps!! Peace!!
