Networking two BCM50's

Does anyone know of a good step by step guide for setting up a dialing plan for two networked BCM50e's?

WE have the two units and the required keycodes however we are a bit lost as to how to program the two.

Does a branch office VPN need to be created between the two BCM's for the telphony or only if we plan on routing data over the same path?

Any help is appreciated.
