Can anyone describe or give an example of what a redundant path looks like? I understand the concept----more than one path to a destination, but I'm having trouble imagining what it would look like (if I could see it) as a packet traverses across a redundant path as it passes through switches, etc.

Thanks!!

is one example. the routers and switches in a given network will perform a "spanning tree" search and "vote" to build correct paths and "disable" others... based on "weights" or default rules built into the devices.

more info is everywhere; but look up "spanning tree" and "ICMP" for the basics...

here is a good link...
