I have a 7 port router right now and have discovered that I need about 3 more connections due to new machinery. Is there a way to add a 4 port router via a bridge to the 7 port?

I've looked around at the stores and the max they sell in one unit is 8 and I need 10 so... Otherwise I have to get some larger and much more expensive unit.

Thanks

Just get a hub or switch (as many ports as you want) and uplink to the router.

Oh good! Much cheaper than another router. I can just plug it into which ever port I want on the router? I'm guessing that there is an uplink port on the switch too.

You will need to go from the uplink port on one device to a regular port on the other device.

If your router has an uplink port, use the uplink there and a regular port on the hub.

If you get a switch (as opposed to a hub) you may want to try both ways if the switch has an uplink. A lot of variables go into determining which will work best in that situation.

On another note, if neither device has an uplink connection, you can often use a crossover cable to connect the two devices. Also be aware that an uplink port is often shared with a regular port, so you may not be able to use one of the regular ports if you are using the uplink port.

Well I ended up with a 5 Port Network Switch from Belkin so I'll have to experiment with the connections. I havn't had a chance to check out the details of the thing but the only other option was to use a Microsoft one and since this is a Macintosh network... that seemed a little blasphemous. lol
