This is not the answer you wanted, but I will suggest that you look for a multiuser Lantastic v8.0 on ebay or other auction sites. Makes it easy and reliable for DOS to anything file transfer. Ed Fair

I've never set up dos networking but have used lap link to transfer files. There are also adapters so that you can plug a laptop hdd into a computer.

Another "not what you are looking for" but wanted to drop my 2cents

I use laplink for dos.
It works well..and isnt too painful to use...

What laptop are you using with what cd?

I have used backpack cdrom drivers on a notebook before to fool the unit into seeing the rom to do an install. Kimber

The more I learn,I realize how much more there is to know!

I have gone through same situation earlier. and have used laplink to do the job. It worked well. Though it took time on serial port communication bit atlast work was done. If you can do it on parellel port it would save your some time.

Use a parrallel laplink cable. Wire map
The Laplink cable is a parallel port DB25 male-to-male cable with the following pinouts:
1 -- open
2 -- 15
3 -- 13
4 -- 12
5 -- 10
6 -- 11
7 -- open
8 -- open
9 -- open
10 -- 5
11 -- 6
12 -- 4
13 - 3
14 -- open
15 -- 2
16 -- open

You can build this or buy one. You may also use Null modem.

Then use dos 6.22 and Interlink(FREE) that comes as a part of dos. You can us a dos program call FX (Fast Lynx),Norton Ghost, Laplink, and a dozen more.

Can you get dos 6.22 by itself, or is that the version you get when you create a startup disk from windows ?
If not where can you get dos 6.22/interlink

You can find 6.22 on ebay. DOS 7 doesn't have interlnk. Ed Fair
