Hi,

I have seen this product on the market and want to know if this would work between two buildings that are approx. 50 metres apart. There is alot of mental on the outside of these buildings, and I do not want to have to compete with interfence or dead spots. I ned something that will work almost everytime.

I'm open to all suggestions, but I do have a budget.

I'd say probably not without external antennas on the building.

I connected to buildings together with a similar distance involved. Buildings were metal clad. External yagi aerials were used and AP's were configured in bridge mode.
Worked fine.

any idea what sort of model I would be looking for? and where to purchase these from?

As I recall, we used a couple of Linksys WAP54G APs (widely available) each connected to a 7dB gain yagi antenna obtained from here:-

You'll also need patch leads ( PIG-RSMAPNPLUG300 ) and adaptors ( ADAP-RTNCPRSMAS ) to link the antenna to the AP. These also from Solwise. The cable I've quoted is 300cm long, but you can go longer if required, but remember at these (2.4GHz) frequencies, lengthening the feeder (cable) considerably will quickly reduce the signal available (attenuation). The APs need to be inside, but the yagis are specifically for external use.

Hope that helps...

brilliant. I will have a look around that site later
