I'll be upfront, I know nothing about Macintoshes, I haven't the slightest clue how to install hardware, software, etc. But I do need to figure out how to connect a Macintosh to a PC server running Novell Netware 4. I am not looking to share any files, but rather only access a printer hooked up to the server (a LaserWriter Pro 600). This is an older mac that we have at work, a PowerPC. It's running MacOS 7.6. The Mac I believe has onboard network hardware, though I'm not positive. The software seems to indicate so, and the only unidentified port on the back is a small female trapazoid shaped connector, and it has the symbol <+++> above it (replace the +'s with dots).

Can this be used? It will need to hook up to a 10base-T hub, is this possible?

Also, what kind of software would I be needing to do this setup? I know it is possible to setup a Mac on a Novell server, but I'm just not experienced enough with Mac's to know what I'm doing.

If it is physically possible, you could direct connect the Mac to the appleshare connector of the printer.

The Mac has network on board but you need an appleshare transceiver to plug into that unidentified hole. That gives you an RJ45 end.

And then you'll either have to set the server up with native Macintosh protocols or use the Prosoft Engineering IPX client for Macintosh. Neither is too obnoxious to do, and the server parts are probably less obnoxious in the long run.
